This disc is firmly in the easy listening instrumental category, largely featuring music from films. Henry Mancini as well as being a great arranger also plays the piano on many tracks. The sound quality is to the usual Dutton Vocalion standard (excellent). The quad effect I would describe as being a hybrid of immersive and ambient, with neither being overtly prominent. Sounds detailed, natural, and relaxing. The stereo CD and SACD layers are fine, but feel this disc really comes alive in multi- channel.

The tracks are a decent mix. Some well-known, including an excellent and atmospheric version of 'As Time Goes By' with great sax and introductory bar sound effects; amazing flute and calliope sounds on 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head', and who doesn't want 'The Stripper' in quadrophonic? The lesser-known tracks were varied in musical style and a pleasure to hear, including the melodic 'Song For Anna' & 'Hills of Yesterday'. This SACD features detailed booklet notes, and includes six compositions by Mancini himself.

Overall, this two-fer is a superlative representation of the varied talents of Henry Mancini.
