To my understanding, the quadraphonic sound has been specially created by Mr. Dutton for this release. It's absolutely wonderful work, especially on Close Encounters, which gave me goosebumps. I hope there are more remixes to quadraphonic in the works -- this one is a must.

I gave this a first listen last night, and I'm struck by the superb clarity in the different surround channels. The timpani and low brass cut right through the sound at times in the rear speakers. Strings swell from the front. The surround mix is created in such a way that it feels like being situated in the center of the orchestra. This is a terrific mix, and I can't wait to listen to it plenty of more times.
