Being both a music lover and a HiFi Enthusiast for many years only recently discovered Dutton Vocalion.
This Henry Mancini Country double album SACD was a first purchase, and overall, most impressed both with the music and superb audio quality whichever way you listen to it.

The music is very much in the easy listening category, and if you like both country and light orchestral music - just the ticket. Mancini's arrangements on this SACD are gentle with a distinct country style. Instruments such as piano, guitar, solo violin (fiddle style), are stunning both musically and from a sound quality perspective.

This SACD has three layers covering CD (you can play in car etc.), Stereo SACD, and Multichannel SACD. All sound great, with the SACD Stereo edging the CD layer to my ears with slightly more refinement and clarity, which needs high quality gear to pick-up.

However, the quadrophonic layer was the real eye opener (or should that be ear opener?). The immersion and audio experience of pure quadrophonic is incredible, the difference between hearing fully discrete channels and all the various matrix systems of old is a game changer. Hence purchased many more Dutton Vocalion SACD since - all of the same great quality encompassing a variety of music genres including Rock.

Most HiFi SACD Players only play multichannel as a stereo output. There is a work-round, as many Blu-Ray players such as Sony BDP series can play the SACD multichannel layer via HDMI linked to an AV amplifier.

All layers sound terrific, understood with much thanks to the brilliant mastering by Michael J Dutton and his team. The £11.99 price for this audio quality and material quantity is a HiFi bargain. Thoroughly recommended.
