The main item here, the Lascaux Symphony, is a premiere recording. With a substantial piano part and strong contrasting sections of lyrical and muscular writing, it's certainly gripping.

It's not surprising that a colorist of Martin Yates's quality would choose to perform this music, or to bring into the spotlight an undeservedly little-known British composer.
