During his long career, Frank Chacksfield was one of Decca's most prolific and successful recording artists, turning out album after album of quality light orchestral music in various styles. Here Frank and his orchestra turn their attention towards music from contrasting worlds. 1961's My Gypsy Love features music with a romantic, Gypsy flavour, beautifully interpreted and performed by Chacksfield's orchestra, with tunes including Tzigane, Gypsy Moon, At the Balalaika, Czardas, Golden Earrings and others. The second album in this release focuses on some of the most enchanting melodies from some of the most enduring operas. Composers including Puccini, Verdi and Mascagni are represented, and Chacksfield's gorgeous orchestral arrangements are suitably Italianate while doing full justice to the work of these geniuses. Arias treated to the Chacksfield orchestral touch include Nessun Dorma, La Donna Mobile and Your Tiny Hand is Frozen.
