This release represents the latest instalment in Vocalion's survey of vintage British rock n' roll from the Decca archives. The third volume spans the years 1957-1963 and contains many rare and sought-after Decca singles by some cult names. Particularly notable among these are Screaming Lord Sutch, who performs Monster in Black Tights and Don't You Just Know It among others. In the UK the Screaming Lord later became a politician (of sorts) and kept British voters smiling by fronting The Monster Raving Looney Party! Guitarist/composer Rhet Stoller, who appeared on Volume 2 in this series (CDLK 4364), is featured with Chariot, one side of his sought-after 1960 Decca single. The Most Brothers - one of whom later became legendary pop producer Mickie Most - contribute with I'm Comin' Home, Dottie and Don't Go Home. Terry White & The Terriers are represented with Rock Around the Mailbag, their Joe Meek-produced 1959 single and the flipside to Blackout that featured on Volume 2. There is much more besides on this superb compilation, which provides yet another fascinating glimpse into the '50s/'60s UK pop scene and proves the Brits could rock with the best of 'em.
