Fine Mixture of Scores to Various Humphrey Bogart Films

It is a stroke of good fortune that classic film scores were recorded by the well regarded conductor Charles Gerhardt, back in the 70s at a time when quadrophonic was in vogue, and with top orchestration at the well regarded Kingsway Hall.

This SACD is a fine mixture of scores to various Humphrey Bogart films, including the classic Casablanca; and contains a detailed booklet about the films and music.

A pleasing mixture of pieces representative of Bogarts various films, and the sound excellent whether in stereo or quad. The quad mix is primarily ambient, with some instrumentation popping up in the rear channels. Overall this SACD sounds clear, detailed, and natural.

As well as the Humphrey Bogart films, the SACD has a bonus track of the Peyton Place TV series theme, which musically fits in well with the rest of the tracks.
